Leo Santa Cruz Beats Ruiz To Retain Title

Leo Santa Cruz (29-0-1 17 KO) proved once again that he is the best at super bantamweight with an 8th round stoppage of Jesus Ruiz. Although it appears that Leo’s steps up in weight are not carrying the power necessary to continue to allow him to successfully fight larger and larger opponents, Santa Cruz proved once again to be able to outbox and stop a game opponent. Although Ruiz proved far more difficult than most spectators expected, attacking Leo on the inside and opening up a cut in the 6th, Santa Cruz’s poise and sustained attacks stopped his outclassed opponent.
